New Fairer Hotels Guide launched to support ethical and sustainable hospitality in Scotland
Scottish Fair Trade has launched a new Fairer Hotels Guide to help hotels, accommodation providers and hospitality businesses across Scotland take practical steps towards Fair Trade, ethical sourcing and sustainability.
The guide has been designed specifically for the hospitality sector and turns the internationally recognised 10 Fair Trade Principles into clear, achievable actions for businesses of all sizes, from independent B&Bs and guesthouses to larger hotel operators.
Hospitality businesses are facing increasing pressure to improve transparency in supply chains, respond to sustainability expectations and ensure fair treatment of workers throughout their operations. This new resource aims to support businesses to navigate those challenges in a practical and accessible way.
The guide includes advice and ideas on:
- paying the real Living Wage and supporting good working conditions
- building transparent, long-term supplier relationships
- identifying and addressing risks in supply chains, including modern slavery
- sourcing credible Fair Trade products such as tea, coffee and sugar
- using purchasing power to support both local economies and Fair Trade producers globally
