Fairtrade Fortnight 2021

Fairtrade Fortnight takes place from 22 February to 7 March. Are you in Scotland and interested in getting involved? Read on for more information.

Fairtrade, Climate and You

This year, we are focusing on the growing challenges that farmers and workers in the communities Fairtrade works with. Farmers and workers are feeling the impact of the climate emergency now despite having contributed to it the least.

Fairtrade farmers tell us that:

  • Climate change is one of their biggest challenges right now.
  • Low prices for their crops mean that they are struggling to fight back.
  • With more money through Fairtrade, they feel more equipped to meet their everyday needs and deal with the challenges posed by climate change.

This Fairtrade Fortnight, we are asking you to Choose the World You Want:  use your voice to tell others about the challenges that farmers face and the importance of Fairtrade.

Are you interested in bringing Fairtrade Fortnight to your community, workplace, school, college or university?

5 ways to get involved:

1.Join the UK-wide Fairtrade Choose the World You Want festival and the fringe community arts festival.

2.Join one of our national events – Scotland’s Big Climate Justice coffee morning and our roundtable exploring the links between Fairtrade and climate with guests from Nicaragua, Palestine and Rwanda.

3.Support your local Fair Trade group.

4.Buy Fairtrade from an independent shop near you.

5.Ask your MSPs and MP to take action on trade to respond to the climate emergency.
