Road signs update: Transport Scotland confirmed that trunk and A class roads are managed by them, and that other roads are under the management of your local council. So, it’s a case of getting some interest from the local council but we also are aware that this can be difficult. Much more so than in the past, so we are thinking of designing a Fair Trade Nation sign that can be displayed within villages, towns, cities and places. More to follow.

Your Fairtrade Fortnight plans:
Dundee Fair Trade Forum: have received funding & will be giving out small grants to schools to run Fairtrade Fortnight events. They plan to be active on socials too.
Co-op Glasgow: Fiona Herriot has a Co-op Live event taking place in the Shawlands’s Co-op on 23 September & will possibly come along to a planned Bubble Tea event at Glasgow Uni.
Co-op Aberdeen City & Aberdeenshire: Vicky Prendergast is planning involvement with a Fairtrade chocolate tasting in Mid-Formartine, a community cafe in Peterhead & Buchan, at Alford’s coffee morning and Co-op store events in Stonehaven and Alford. Bubble Tea may also go down well at a local youth group!
Aberdeen Fair & Sustainable Trade Group: will get involved with Climate Week North East, Envirolution Aberdeen 2025, along with tea events in partnership with CFINE & the Co-op, as well as engaging Aberdeen’s Art Galleries and Museums to explore historical links to the tea industry.
The Perth and Kinross Fairtrade Steering Group: is planning a Fairtrade debate involving 4 local secondary schools, on 1 October in the evening.
Kirkcudbright Fair Trade Group: plans a pop-up shop, information stalls, possibly in the local Tesco and Co-op stores, a coffee morning in November and engagement with schools in March 2026.
Co-op Mid/East Lothian and Borders is planning a coffee morning at Melrose Corn Exchange, Market Square, Melrose TD6 9PN, Saturday 27th September, 10am to 12 noon. And a possible wine-tasting evening with various free Fairtrade products to sample and lots of Fairtrade based activities. Abbey Church Hall, 116 High Street, North Berwick EH39 4HE, Friday 3rd October 7.30pm – 9.30pm. Plus a store-based ‘pop-up’ event at Shawfair Co-op, Plot 18 Shawfair Park, Danderhall, Edinburgh EH22 1FD, Wednesday 24th September 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
Peterhead & Buchan Fairtrade Group is planning the following: An event in New Deer, a village in our area, to support Macmillan. It’ll be coffees, teas and homebakes using Fairtrade products with a stall selling Fairtrade goods; the Co-op invited us to have a stall at a Conversation café they are having in another village. In addition we and Action for a Fairer World (Aberdeen) may be having a bubble tea stall in Peterhead Community Centre.
Fairtrade Inverness is planning a coffee morning event with the Lord Provost on Saturday 29 November.
