The next Cross Party Group on Fair Trade is entitled – Fair Trade in Times of Conflict: Voices from Palestinian Producers.
Brief overview: Join the Cross-Party Group on Fair Trade for a conversation with Palestinian Fairtrade producers about the realities of working through conflict and uncertainty. As a fragile ceasefire offers a glimpse of hope, we’ll hear how Fair Trade principles of partnership, dignity, and resilience can help producers rebuild, and how we can stand in solidarity for a fairer future.
More: This meeting of the Cross-Party Group on Fair Trade will hear directly from Palestinian Fairtrade producers about the impact of conflict on their livelihoods. Farmers, growers, and artisans across the Occupied Palestinian Territories continue to face immense challenges – from restrictions on movement and trade to the lasting social and economic impacts of violence. As a fragile ceasefire offers a moment of hope, our speakers will reflect on what recovery could look like for Fair Trade producers, whether Fair Trade relationships have provided any resilience during the crisis, and how solidarity from Scotland and the wider movement can help build a fairer and more stable future.
We’ll hear from:
– Yasmina Ferrigan, Manager, Hadeel (Scotland)
– Manal Ramadan white, Managing Director, Zaytoun (UK)
– Basma Barham, International Public Relations representative, Holy Land Handicraft Cooperative Society (Palestine)
Everyone is welcome.
