Small Grants for Campaigner Support
We’re launching a small grants fund to help bring Fair Trade and climate action together in communities across Scotland. We know it’s not always easy to make new connections or plan something from scratch, so we’re offering grants of up to £500 to support simple, collaborative activities with local climate or environmental groups. Whether it’s joining an existing event, hosting a shared meal, or running a practical swap or repair session, we’ll provide ideas, resources and light-touch support to help you make it happen.
We’ve put some suggestions for projects that you might undertake on the link below, and when you’re readym please complete the application form here. We’re also happy to chat through any of your ideas informally: louise@scottishfairtrade.org
Please send your applications by 30 June (new deadline). Your activity can take place any time this year.
These grants are primarily intended for Fair Trade local groups and campaigners and members of Scottish Fair Trade.
Making the Connection
The climate crisis is no longer a distant warning – it’s here, disrupting lives and livelihoods across the world. For smallholder farmers and artisans in the Global South, the effects are already devastating: unpredictable seasons, droughts, floods, and the loss of raw materials that underpin both farming and craft production.
Scottish Fair Trade’s new report, ‘Climate, Environment & Fair Trade – Making the Connection’, explores how Fair Trade producers are adapting to these challenges and leading the way in climate solutions. The research shows that climate justice and trade justice are inseparable. Without fairer trading structures, producers will lack the resources and partnerships they need to adapt and thrive.

Fair Trade is a climate solution: Fair Trade enterprises reinvest in renewable energy, agroecology, and circular production: community-led solutions ready to scale if governments unlock the right enabling conditions.
Scottish Fair Trade will be represented COP30 in Belém, Brazil, where global leaders, businesses, campaigners and civil society groups will gather to shape the next phase of international climate action.
With our new report this is a valuable opportunity to bring the Fair Trade perspective into the heart of the climate talks.

As leaders gather in Belém for COP30, governments must move from rhetoric to redistribution of power, resources, and opportunity. The Belém Action Mechanism provides the framework, and the Loss & Damage Fund the means, to make that shift. Back them, resource them, and ensure producers’ voices shape the global response to climate change."
