Our Ethical Business Manager, Kiera Wilkins, is pleased to be attending the Social Enterprise World Forum 2025
Next week I will be attending the Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF) in Taipei, Taiwan. I’ll be travelling as part of the young Scottish social entrepreneurs delegation, which has been made possible through the bursary programme offered by the International Social Enterprise Observatory (ISEO), funded by the Scottish Government. I’ll be representing Scottish Fair Trade and our ethical business consultancy, Fair Change Co., at this fantastic event. We’re also delighted that two of our Scottish Fair Trade members, Jawahir Al-Mauly from Ujamaa Spice and Dorcas Apoore from ASIGE, will also be in attendance as part of the Scottish youth delegation.
SEWF is the world’s largest social enterprise gathering. It brings together social enterprises, policymakers, investors and changemakers from across the world to connect and learn from one another. This year’s theme, “Shaping Tomorrow: Collective Action for People and Planet,” resonates strongly with what we are campaigning for here at Scottish Fair Trade. Topics covered throughout the week include social procurement, access to markets, and empowering artisans through enterprise, to name a few. The sessions aim to explore practical solutions to the challenges we face globally today, from inclusive growth and ethical supply chains to climate action and community empowerment. I see SEWF2025 as a key opportunity to connect Fair Trade and social enterprise on a global stage by learning from others and building connections across the global social enterprise community.
Attending SEWF2025 offers an opportunity to showcase Scotland on the global stage as a Fair Trade Nation. Scotland has a long-standing commitment to putting people and planet first in the way we trade and do business. It’s a chance to demonstrate that Scotland is not only proud of its Fair Trade Nation status, but is actively contributing to global efforts to build fairer, more sustainable economies.
Having recently launched our own social enterprise, Fair Change Co., back in April, SEWF2025 also gives us a great opportunity to connect with mission-driven businesses who may be looking to enter the Scottish or wider UK market, as well as those exploring how they can strengthen the social and environmental integrity of their supply chains. We’re ready to support those businesses with practical guidance and ethical business expertise, helping them trade responsibly, strengthen their supply chains, and achieve real social and environmental impact.
