Scotland is proud to be a Fair Trade Nation, and that status reflects values that enjoy broad support: fairness, human rights, sustainability and global responsibility. Elections are one of the moments when those values can be voiced clearly and confidently.

That’s why we’ve pulled together a short set of practical tips and questions to help people raise Fair Trade when engaging with candidates – whether that’s on the doorstep, at a hustings, or in conversations in your community. Of course we aren’t promoting any particular party of position, but making it easier for campaigners to ask thoughtful questions and show that Fair Trade matters to voters.

Fair Trade connects everyday choices in Scotland with the lives of producers around the world. It also links directly to issues that often come up during elections, from climate action and workers’ rights to responsible business and international cooperation.
